Tailored Care for Your Body’s Needs

CLINICAL PILATES

release

Relieve tension and address restrictions that affect your daily movement. Clinical Pilates focuses on releasing tight muscles, fascia, and the deeper layers of your body to reduce pain and discomfort, creating space for optimal alignment and more efficient movement patterns. This phase aids in the healing of injuries by easing the strain on affected areas.

repattern

Once tension is alleviated, it’s time to reset your body’s movement patterns. Clinical Pilates targets habitual and compensatory movements, helping you relearn proper alignment and mechanics to move with more awareness, improved functionality, and long-term health. This process is essential for recovering from injuries, preventing them from recurring, and restoring the body’s natural movement.

REBUILD

With better alignment and restored movement patterns, we shift the focus to building strength. Strengthening the muscles that support key joints enhances the structural integrity of your body, stabilizing you for daily activities, preventing future injury, and boosting overall vitality. This phase is crucial for long-term injury prevention and ensuring lasting recovery.

Where rehabilitation meets movement mastery.

At FORM, our approach to injury recovery is both clinical and holistic—because true healing isn’t just about symptom relief, it’s about long-term resilience.

Clients typically begin their journey with a thorough assessment and hands-on treatment from one of our expert physiotherapists. Once the acute phase has passed and you’re ready for active rehabilitation, your care continues—not with a printout of exercises to do at home, but in our fully equipped Pilates studio.

Here, you’ll work one-on-one in 60-minute sessions with either your physiotherapist or a seasoned Physiotherapy Support Worker (PTSW)—a trained Pilates and movement specialist who works under the direction of your physiotherapist. This dynamic partnership ensures you’re not just doing exercises; you’re moving well, moving safely, and progressing with purpose.

Our model blends the clinical focus of physiotherapy with the body-wide awareness of movement therapy. It’s a more effective, more integrated alternative to the traditional path of physio and at-home exercises.

Your physiotherapist remains closely involved throughout your program, checking in every 4–6 sessions to reassess, adjust your plan, and ensure your recovery is always evolving. Every session is charted, and your care team communicates fluidly—so nothing gets missed, and everything moves forward.

These sessions are eligible for coverage under many extended health plans. More importantly, they’re the bridge between injury and true recovery—offering not just relief, but transformation.

Clinical Pilates Vancouver | Downtown Vancouver FAQs

What’s the Difference Between Regular Pilates and Clinical Pilates?

Regular Pilates focuses on general fitness, flexibility, and strength. It’s a series of exercises that anyone can enjoy for overall well-being. On the other hand, Clinical Pilates is a more therapeutic approach, tailored specifically to address individual health concerns or injuries.

It’s often used as part of a physiotherapy treatment plan or to assist in managing specific health conditions. At FORM Body Lab, our Clinical Pilates sessions are designed with a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, ensuring that each movement is both safe and effective for the client.

Is Clinical Pilates Suitable for Beginners?

Absolutely! Clinical Pilates is suitable for individuals of all fitness levels, including beginners. If you’re new to Pilates, our expert instructors will guide you through the basics, ensuring that you understand each movement and its purpose. We prioritize safety and comfort, so every exercise will be adjusted to match your current ability and gradually challenge you as you progress.

How Often Should I Attend Clinical Pilates Sessions To See Results?

The frequency of sessions depends on your individual goals and needs. We recommend attending at least 2 sessions per week. However, if you’re using Clinical Pilates for rehabilitation or to address specific health concerns, your physiotherapist will provide guidance tailored to your unique situation.

How Does Clinical Pilates Aid in Injury Rehabilitation?

Clinical Pilates is an excellent tool for injury rehabilitation because it focuses on controlled movements that target specific muscle groups. This controlled approach allows for safe strengthening of injured areas without putting undue strain on them.

Additionally, the emphasis on core strength in Pilates can aid in stabilizing the body, which is crucial for preventing future injuries. Our instructors work closely with clients to understand their injuries and design a program that aids in the recovery process.
