RMT TMJ Massage Vancouver Downtown FAQs

Who Is TMJ Treatment For?

Massage therapy for TMJ and jaw tension may be beneficial for individuals experiencing jaw discomfort, muscle tightness, headaches, or restricted movement in the jaw. Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) use techniques, including intra-oral massage (performed with gloves), to address muscle tension that may contribute to TMJ-related discomfort. This treatment is suitable for those seeking relief from jaw tension due to stress, clenching, or other musculoskeletal factors.

How Often Should I Get TMJ Massage?

The frequency of massage therapy for TMJ and jaw tension varies based on individual needs. Some people may benefit from weekly or biweekly sessions initially, while others may find monthly treatments sufficient for maintaining relief. Your RMT can discuss a treatment plan that aligns with your specific symptoms and goals. Consistent care may help manage muscle tension and support overall jaw mobility.

What Can I Expect During My First RMT TMJ Massage?

Your first Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) session for TMJ and jaw tension will begin with a consultation to discuss your symptoms and treatment goals. Your RMT may use a combination of external and intra-oral massage (performed with gloves) to address muscle tension in the jaw, face, and neck. The treatment is designed to be comfortable and focused on relieving tightness and improving mobility. You may experience a sense of relief and relaxation following the session, with ongoing benefits developing over time.

Can an RMT TMJ Treatment Help With Aging Concerns?

An RMT TMJ treatment is designed to address muscle tension and discomfort in the jaw, face, and neck. While it may help reduce tension-related lines from jaw clenching or tightness, it is not specifically aimed at anti-aging. For those looking to enhance their facial appearance, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, or improve facial contours, we recommend seeing our aesthetician, Hannah, for a Buccal Facial. Her specialized treatments are focused on lifting, plumping, and rejuvenating the skin and can be booked on our Facials Page.
